I was joking with Billy recently that his playing on the intro to the top video really puts a new spin on “high, lonesome” :)

@Bliss… Thank you very much!
@ Sebastien… that was an all-star band assembled for that show. Billy Cardine, Cyril Lance (Moog Chief Engineer) on Moog Guitar, Ben Hovey (no stranger to these pages) on trumpet and synth, Brian Kehew on synths, Jeff Sipe on drums and Jay Sanders on bass.

When musical traditions meet, handled by people with real mastery of their technique, wonderful things can happen. That can be true of master instrument builders, for one. I got a chance to hear the sounds of the Moog Lap Steel Guitar in June while meeting with the folks from Moog Music. It’s an incredibly-delicious instrument, both [...]

I remember that I was somehow able to sync the sample&hold on the Micromoog to the sequencer on the SH-101. That was my first experience with synths communicating with each other. [...]

We’ve been talking about it for a while. Should happen very soon. You’ll know when you hear that big sound rolling down out of the Appalachians :)
Actually, given my and Ben’s admiration for the work of Jon Hassell, “big” may not be the best adjective. Many others would fit.

Chris Stack, maker of the Experimental Synth series (and formerly of Moog Music), is back with new ideas for what to do with some great gear. Analog and digital meet here: everything from Nanoloop running on an Android handheld to the mighty Moog Taurus 3 pedal make appearances. That means that you ought to be able [...]
