Pd Everywhere

Use the music + media patching tool Pure Data (Pd) to get creative anywhere. Starting with Android, but soon on other platforms (iOS, Processing, OpenFrameworks, Python, Java), libpd is an embeddable version of Pd that lets you run your patches inside other software and on various devices. From Pd patches on phones to creative audiovisual tools, check out what’s possible.

This group is for programmers and users alike, so we can discuss both the development aspects of these tools and also how to use them as musicians and artists.

NodeBeat for Android just released (libdPd + openFrameworks) 6 posts

I just wanted to announce that NodeBeat has finally been launched on Android: https://market.android.com/details?id=com.AffinityBlue.NodeBeat

If you’re not familiar, NodeBeat is an experimental node-based audio sequencer and generative music application.

It’s programming in c++ and uses ndk to compile for Android. Since we used openFrameworks for development, 90% of the code was the same for Android as the iOS version. libPd runs on both platforms with no changes. The only difference in code between iOS and Android was the GUI elements. All the audio and visuals (non-GUI) were untouched which is a great tribute to the quality of both libPd and openFrameworks.

If there’s any questions feel free to ask. Thanks to everyone here for helping and contributing to libPd!

    -Seth

P.S. – I wasn’t sure if I should open a new post or not. If that’s poor taste, feel free to merge it with the iOS post from before: http://noisepages.com/groups/pd-everywhere/forum/topic/nodebeat-created-with-libpd-openframeworks/

I’m surprised no one replied to it.  I bought it and love it.  Thank you so much.  I wish there were more effects and knobs to twiddle with, plus saving the state of the program and being able to delete nodes would be Super useful, but I’m extremely impressed overall!

Thanks RJ, I really appreciate it.

We’re looking at adding more features (ie. saving state, more options, etc). As a note, you can remove nodes by dragging them off the edge of the screen.

    Thanks again!

Hey Seth – yeah, I need to write it up! I was holding off to see what’s going on with these Market problems, though. (I’m trying to remember where I was a week ago… probably dealing with *some* problem or another!) ;)

And yeah, now I know what I’ll do with my flights back to Germany from England on Wednesday, or my train trip Sunday, or both. :)

    Hey Peter,

No worries. I know how busy you are.

And yeah, right now we can’t process any new orders (a major pain), so i’ll definitely let you know when we’re back functioning (either on the Android Market and/or on Amazon Appstore).  So it’ll be best to wait to publish like you said because no one is going to be able to buy on Android right now anyway.  :( Thanks again for the support. :)
