Hey Richard. This would be great to have code. There is already some of this info in Pd/Pd-extended when it opens .pat or .mxt files. Someone would just need to implement a json file loader for Pd, then Pd-extended could directly open .maxpat files. I think it wouldn’t take more than a day to do. [...]

MaxMSP 5 saves Patchers only as “.maxpat” files which is a new JSON-based file format. MaxMSP 5 can’t save Max 4-compatible .pat files that Max 4 or Pd can read directly. MaxMSP 5 can, however, read Max 4 .pat and .mxt files. The Max 5 to Max 4 SuperCollider converter “MaxPat” ( http://www.fredrikolofsson.com/f0blog/?q=node/301 ) primarily [...]

Someone wrote a max5 to max4 file converter in SuperCollider. Then you can just open the Max4 file using Pd-extended.

Doh! Max 5 uses a new incompatible (JSON-based) file format.
That information would be useful in the Pd Wiki section on Max interoperability.
Again answering my own question:
A SuperCollider patch that converts Max 5 .maxpat files to Max 4 .pat files. From there one should be able to import the .pat file into Pd.

Anyone had any recent experience trying to import Max 5 patcher files into Pd? Pd-Extended includes cyclone and should provide support for a large number of Max and MSP objects. But right now I’m just looking for a way to get the Max patchers into Pd. But maybe Max changed their file format in version [...]

Hey people, I’ve build a little video mixer controlled with OSC. Together with a GlovePIE script you can control it using a Wiimote. It’s a simple 2 video mixer with gain control, and you can select clips at random. For more info and to download the patch and script, check my blog post here: http://megatroid.noisepages.com/2010/05/wiimote-osc-controlled-video-mixer-using-pure-data-glovepie/ [...]

vince started the forum topic Automatic patch generator for your touchOSC layouts in the group pd:
Hi,
For those of you using PD and touchOSC (the multi-touch interface for the Iphone/Ipod), I just noticed that the guys at hexler have released an application that automatically generates PD patches from a touchOSC layout. These patches should handle the OSC to MIDI conversion, and should also help to start using touchOSC.
I did not tried [...]2 years, 6 months ago · View

While talking about the iPhone today, it seemed only appropriate to point out that using open source tools means leveraging what you know across more platforms. And that includes Pd:

I wonder if anyone's in Pittsburgh and going to those workshops?
