I <3 Trackers
Public Group active 3 weeks agoSequencers? We don’t need any stinkin’ sequencers. This group is for discussing trackers like Renoise, LSDJ/Little Piggy, NitroTracker, and many other trackers new and old, desktop and mobile, on all operating systems — plus any other music arrangement software that incorporates tracker ideas. If you’re a beginner curious to investigate tracker interfaces or a long-time user, come hang out. There are fantastic forums for individual trackers, but this is a place for trackers of many different stripes to come together.

The new Matrix View for Renoise 2.5 is brilliant! I wish I had a nice controller like a Monome to really get it's worth. I need to extensively use the program just a tad more to get everything that's coming out of it. But I think the final release will be amazing.

I really enjoy Renoise 2.1 because of the Rewire and JACK support. This is really handy for when I have a great idea in my tracker and I want to throw it into a DAW for further editing/looping/all that Jazz.

I use Buzz and Buzé for the sound design possibilities from th their modular machine views. Some of their plugs still beat commercial VSTs for me. The peer controls ( plugins to control other plugins ) allow some nice generative stuff too. I'm also keeping an eye on Nakalyne and some of the other "buzz [...]

I don't think trackers are in need to be bound to a musical genre.. maybe some make some type easier but it's still "just" a kind of layout & some specific techniques, so it doesn't really need to be tight to a musical genre.

Who's making what kind of genre in their tracker of choice? I know I use Renoise to a lot of breakcore/glitch, and MilkyTracker for some real chiptune style music. I just bought a LSDJ cartridge as well, and I love it. I'm not used to workflow as of yet, but it's coming to me.

@amun – which issues are you having with LiveOSC? I’m curious to hear a) how people are trying to use it and b) where they’re stumbling. My guess is that the API does more than the LiveOSC API does, so it’s probably the LiveOSC scripts that are the *first* line of problems, though both are [...]
