Sequencers? We don’t need any stinkin’ sequencers. This group is for discussing trackers like Renoise, LSDJ/Little Piggy, NitroTracker, and many other trackers new and old, desktop and mobile, on all operating systems — plus any other music arrangement software that incorporates tracker ideas. If you’re a beginner curious to investigate tracker interfaces or a long-time user, come hang out. There are fantastic forums for individual trackers, but this is a place for trackers of many different stripes to come together.

Hola people, long time no see. Genki? A friend recorded me warming up for the Memetic Festival gig that I played at a few days ago in Winnipeg. Just thought I’d share this video that was recorded in my hotel room the night before the show. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y-SE0wemYL4 Did the whole hour and a half long [...]

This is an old post, but I use SunVox. I do consider it a tracker in that it uses tracker-style music entry, but I love the new sequencer kind of arrangement window. That makes music composition so much easier and more modern.

Schism works on OSX ( but I’m not an OSX user so can’t comment on how well. )

Finally had enough patience to sit down and use a tracker. Made this little ditty with Milkytracker…it’s a little harsh on the ears but I kind of enjoy it: http://vimeo.com/22600007 Also, does anyone know of any other good trackers for osx? I tried using MCK/MML but I couldn’t get it to work. Share some of [...]

Just curious if anyone out there is utilizing Sunvox. I have been digging my fingers into it lately and it is really showing some similarities to the old Buzz in some ways. It does have a more sequencer like arrangement window though.

I would like to say one of the Englishmen I do a bit of sample/tracker file exchange and very poorly executed collaborations with (mostly my end) has mentioned it a couple times. He had introduced me to Buzz a couple years ago, and very likely Sunvox is sitting in a folder somewhere waiting for me to do anything with it.

      Thanks for the reminder!

As indicated before, NitroTracker when I only have my NDS with me, Renoise for my main project, Schism Tracker (since I got tired of keeping Impulse alive in my heart for old time’s sake) for a noise project using found files on misc harddrives/discs as WAV data (LNK/BAT/etc), FamiTracker when I want to do up [...]

The new Matrix View for Renoise 2.5 is brilliant! I wish I had a nice controller like a Monome to really get it's worth. I need to extensively use the program just a tad more to get everything that's coming out of it. But I think the final release will be amazing.

I really enjoy Renoise 2.1 because of the Rewire and JACK support. This is really handy for when I have a great idea in my tracker and I want to throw it into a DAW for further editing/looping/all that Jazz.

I use Buzz and Buzé for the sound design possibilities from th their modular machine views. Some of their plugs still beat commercial VSTs for me. The peer controls ( plugins to control other plugins ) allow some nice generative stuff too. I'm also keeping an eye on Nakalyne and some of the other "buzz [...]

I don't think trackers are in need to be bound to a musical genre.. maybe some make some type easier but it's still "just" a kind of layout & some specific techniques, so it doesn't really need to be tight to a musical genre.
I"m using littlegptracker (coz I wrote it and therefore it was made [...]

Who's making what kind of genre in their tracker of choice? I know I use Renoise to a lot of breakcore/glitch, and MilkyTracker for some real chiptune style music. I just bought a LSDJ cartridge as well, and I love it. I'm not used to workflow as of yet, but it's coming to me.

@amun – which issues are you having with LiveOSC? I’m curious to hear a) how people are trying to use it and b) where they’re stumbling. My guess is that the API does more than the LiveOSC API does, so it’s probably the LiveOSC scripts that are the *first* line of problems, though both are [...]
